IAEA Director: Situation is Dire and Degrading

IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi travelled to Antalya, Turkey for meetings to discuss the urgent issue of ensuring safety and security of Ukraine’s nuclear facilities.

My synopsis: The only accomplishment Director General Grossi was that he had a meeting with Russia and Ukraine; he’s not even sure if scientists were present.  No conditions were decided – just “preferences” and “redlines.”

Director General Grossi clearly stated situation in Chernobyl is dire and degrading. IAEA has lost comms with safeguard equipment because of power interruption. In other words, what they have been telling the public has been their “best guesses.”

Assumption is that generator has nine hours left.

Upon his return to Vienna, the Director General is expected to hold a press conference on Friday evening, March 10.
