We Are Resurrected

Two days ago, on Good Friday, Pope Francis stated to the Western World that “We are racists, we are racists. And this is bad.”  Racism is a form of prejudice, judging others without knowing them, disparaging an entire group of people with one broad stroke. And here was the Pope judging the entire Western World, making sweeping accusations against you and I without knowing us. He was doing what he was accusing the West of doing, prejudging. He has also called capitalism, “the dung of the devil” and said that “poor countries should not be reduced to being providers of raw material and cheap labor for developed countries.” He has adopted both the language and the tactics of the far left, the neo-Marxists, and is using it like modern radicals do – to tear down, not build up, to divide, not unite, in an attempt to create a worldly paradise out of the ruins.

This is very disturbing because one of the founders of modern radicalism, neo-Marxist, Saul Alinsky, made it very clear which side he was on. In his book, Rules for Radical, he wrote, “Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical… who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.” As the head of the largest Christian denomination in the world, the Pope is treading on very dangerous ground here. By adopting the language and tactics of the neo-Marxist, he is unwittingly promoting an anti-Christian, anti-God ideology.

Pope Francis has been accused over the years of being not only sympathetic to Communism, but an outright Communist. He has said, “it is the communists who think like Christians. Christ spoke of a society where the poor, the weak and the marginalized have the right to decide. Not demagogues, not Barabbas, but the people, the poor, whether they have faith in a transcendent God or not. It is they who must help to achieve equality and freedom.” He is both marginalizing faith and emphasizing the material world. This is the exact opposite of what Jesus taught us.
