On October 1, 2021, Governor Newsom issued a press release that COVID-19 vaccination will be required for K-12 students, effective the first January 1, or July 1, following the federal Food & Drug Administration’s (“FDA”) full approval of a COVID-19 vaccine for all students in the following grade spans: K-6 (equating to ages 5-11); and 7-12 (equating to ages 12+). The additional information published along with the Press Release indicates the vaccine requirement will also apply to K-12 school employees.
