No, Trump Did Not Call for an End to the Constitution

Trump has done and said a number of dumb things recently, but he has also been misrepresented. For instance, Trump did not expect white supremacist Nick Fuentes to show up to dinner with Kanye West (Trump said he didn’t know Fuentes either), and Trump’s record as the most pro-Jewish president ever ought to have been a shield from the idiotic claim that he shouldn’t ever dine with people who have stupid and wicked views (otherwise the Democrats are right to prevent Republicans and Democrats from mixing in society).

The media—even some conservative media—has now reported that Trump called for the end of the Constitution. He didn’t. As far as I can tell from his TruthSocial message, he made the observation—an entirely true one—that when the government was stolen in the unconstitutional and fraudulent 2020 election, the laws—including the Constitution—no longer apply simply because we are no longer living in a Republic. Our Founding Fathers would have agreed heartily that if a tyrant stole an election and ruled with an authoritarian hand, constantly flouting the Constitution, then America would need to look for answers elsewhere than the laws that worked only under a republican system. That’s why they had a Revolution.

Did Trump word it badly? Yes, I think he did. He could have explained himself better, certainly. It was not well written. But decide for yourself–and read his own clarification.  As Trump himself said, “This is simply more DISINFORMATION & LIES.”
