As the gubernatorial race in New York grows increasingly tight, Republican candidate Rep. Lee Zeldin has pledged that if he beats out Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul in November, he will declare a state of emergency to combat the state’s alarming surge in violent crime on his very first day in office.
And, if recent polls are to be believed, Zeldin’s shot at making good on that promise is looking ever-brighter, with RealClearPolitics now calling the heated race a “toss-up.”
