For years, I and others have used the term “drinking the kool-aid.”  Little did I know there is actually a more formal term that addresses this phenomena. The formal name is mass formational psychosis (MFP).  Search it out, and you will find numerous articles.  Not only that, but I learned just how insidious this psychosis is and how effective a tool it is for those who wish to control large numbers of people.  The most amazing thing is that this is a tool so effective that large populations can be convinced to act against their own best interests. This is a tool where a moral people can be swayed into accepting the most immoral actions of their government and, in the extreme, conducting clearly immoral actions themselves.
