The U.S. Capitol Police will soon be using military surveillance equipment to monitor Americans as part of a larger effort to improve security and become “an intelligence-based protective agency” in the wake of the January 6 riot. It’s strange that the lawmakers on the left who scream with their hair on fire that the police are becoming “militarized” apparently have no problem with this move, perhaps because the Capitol Police reports to the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.
