Buttigieg to Americans: You won't have to worry about gas prices, if you buy an electronic vehicle – average cost 55k · American Wire News

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg once again demonstrated he sees his role as less about overseeing the infrastructure of the United States and more about forcing the hand of the American public with his “solution” for rising gas prices.

Buttigieg was joined by Vice President Kamala Harris Monday at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building to host a “Clean Transit Event” that marked one year since the passing of the American Rescue Plan Act. At the event, Buttigieg suggested that spending billions of dollars to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the nation would unburden Americans suffering from fuel costs.

“Clean transportation can bring significant cost savings for the American people as well,” Buttigieg argued in his speech. “Last month we announced a $5 billon investment to build out a nationwide electric vehicle charging network, so the people from rural to suburban to urban communities can all benefit from the gas savings of driving an EV.”

According to AAA, the average price of gas on March 8 had risen to $4.17 per gallon. That is an increase of $1.40 since last year and nearly $0.56 since last week. It is now the highest recorded average fuel cost for Regular Unleaded gasoline. Diesel has jumped $1.75 since last year and is only $0.09 short of reaching the record high average of $4.84 set on July 17, 2008.

As Ian Miles Cheong said, “Please help me make sense of this.” Americans were already struggling with the already rising cost of fuel before Russia invaded Ukraine. Now, Buttigieg is proposing a solution to this problem is to invest thousands of dollars in an EV that the infrastructure can’t even fully support yet.

However, what they conveniently leave out are the costs accrued to disperse these EV’s throughout the nation and what resources are needed to produce and run these “environmentally friendly” vehicles.

Whether they are aware of these pitfalls or not, it is clear as Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) puts it, the “Administration could not be more tone deaf.”

Of course, if you listen to what Harris had to say during the same event, you can see that they may be struggling with reality more than tone.

“We have the ability to see what can be, unburdened by what has been,” Harris said. “And then to make the possible actually happen.”

The possible they are trying to make happen, a “real cultural shift” to take away “our freedom” as Laura Ingraham has stated of Buttigieg’s proposals in the past. The green policies are progressive agendas wrapped in “noble goals” to control everyday life.
