Ayatollah: Iran Navy Needs to Boost ‘Combat Power,’ Sail in Internat’l Waters

Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei has been spending a lot of time on Twitter praising fellow authoritarian allies, bashing the US, and blaming everyone for the mass protests in Iran except his own tyrannical regime. Recently Iran’s parliament voted to execute protesters with 14,000 in custody, and it is still unclear how many protesters Iran plans to execute. But the country that is a major state sponsor of terrorism is definitely committed to increasing its war capabilities, as the Ayatollah tweeted on November 28 that Iran’s Navy needs to increase its combat power and sail in international waters. He did not say why (separately, he said the Navy could spread Iranian culture as well as reach military goals).

Iran just lost to the U.S. in the World Cup. Interestingly, thousands of Iranians turned out in the streets to celebrate the US victory and the Iranian loss, because they hate their government so much. One young man honking his car horn in celebration was shot in the head by Iranian security services.
